The senior centre fitness room has push-up bars, I found in a box of leg bands.

Re: Snow storms and other natural weather events

Quite nippy today here in Ontario -24°C Feels -28 with the wind chill but still every Saturday morning meet me friend at the Tea Haus at 9am downtown, only a 20 minute walk.

Re: Push up bars

I've used a soccer ball size medicine ball, like diamond push-ups. Also used a kettlebell or two. I like using a Swedish ladder, elevating me legs. I mainly just use the floor but have made use of suspension straps at the senior centre fitness room, they let you use many angles, plus some stability.

Re: Walking in place

11am -15°C Feels -25 doesn't stop me going out. At 7am I walk 15 minutes to the senior centre, yes pretty nippy. We've had a fair amount of snow this year SW Ontario and the dreaded ice pellets. We can walk pretty much everywhere, downtown, park walkways, even a nearby coffee shop. Me wife is into ...

Re: Happy New Year

I remember days when people make new year resolutions, it's a good time to refocus on activities and diet.

Re: Happy Holidays

We did the Christmas thing when our kids were young and at home, nowadays just give them money, they're in their 40's now. Family and friends get together and eat, no religious significance.

Re: Embarking on the course again

I originally bought the Dynamic-Tension® back in 1972 when I was a 7 stone weakling. 1999-2000 I developed a cyst in me right lung and a specialist suggested I have the lung removed. I didn't but decided I'd try acupuncture instead and at this time got the 2000 version and read . . .

I was a 7 stone weakling

Sometimes at the senior centre fitness room I'll joke with a fellow who weighs himself and sometimes I'll set the scale from just lbs to stone and lbs. I'll ask him how many stone and tell him I was a 7 stone weakling before taking the Charles Atlas course. Nowadaze I'm just over 11 stone.

1 stone ...

Cheap Vegetarian Protein

A very cheap vegetarian protein is TVP textured vegetable protein, $6 CAD a bag. A 1/4 cup is 11g soy protein, just add a tiny bit boiling water to soak then 1/2 cup Swiss style muesli and hot 1% milk. I add cashews, walnut pieces, 4 dates, 2 prunes = 30g protein. The TVP isn't pasteurized so ...
