helping hand

Walking down a street in my neighbourhood the other day was an old fellow sitting on the front step to a small 3 floor apartment building. He was saying something and at first thought he was just saying hi but then realized he was sitting on the step but couldn't get up to open the front door. It wa...

Re: Hot choc / cocoa

I noticed in the supermarket today they had unsweetened almond and cashew m*lk with 8g of protein a cup. Also dark chocolate oat m*lk, unsweetened and unflavoured oat m*lk is really good tasting. Went back to chocolate soy for the protein and bought the almond and cashew unsweetened, reading the lab...

The Other Olympics

A couple of events not in the Olympics but I would find inspirational, in China they have Tai Chi competitions. Most think of Tai Chi as some kind of moving meditation but in competition it is more like gymnastics, many videos are on online media. Also I saw from Britain, Yoga Olympics, also much li...

Re: Under the table

When I did camping, I would sit at the wooden picnic table and brace my feet and do the Roman chair style sit-ups, where your head comes back and touches the floor. I can still do it, gave it a go a few months ago.

That lady moved to a care home but we have another woman on our floor who my wife takes out for a short walk everyday, she's on oxygen and uses a walker, has many health problems. We also do some shopping for her as she's not mobile much. I see many older folks who just never gave a thought about he...

Hot choc / cocoa

Back when I was a kid in the 1960's we didn't buy hot chocolate powder, just plain cocoa and add sugar and milk. I have been buying chocolate oat m*lk and add a teaspoon of plain cocoa to it, mix the cocoa with a little hot water then add the chocolate oat m*lk and microwave to hot. I discovered a b...

Under the table

I've sometime put a broom handle across 2 chair backs to do reverse push-ups but that can be dodgy as chair can tip. Then I got under our solid dining table and did some reverse push-ups there and it worked really well, great for the forearms.

Re: Heat

The West Coast of Canada was hit hard with very hot weather 50°C/122°F, here in Ontario we had a couple of hot days but nothing we couldn't handle since summer here is usually hot and humid.

Re: Daily Abdominals

Rule number one, don't anchor feet when doing sit-ups. I have done them in the past with knees bent and feet flat, this is used as a core strength test.
