Re: 2010
Henry, I have shared on this forum before that nutrition is the great weakness I have when it comes to the Atlas system. I'm not fat or skinny, but my diet could be improved. I have decided to take a small step: I have quit eating fried food. Of course, if fried is all I have in front of my then fri...

Positive Outlook
One of the things Atlas taught was the importance of a good attitude. That has meant so much to me. In fact, its one of the reason I returned to the Atlas system. I needed an "attitude adjustment" more than a back patient needs a chiropractor. Well, I was thinking a few days ago about Chri...

Re: Side Bends
I used to do these more like a stretching exercise. Done that way it mainly worked the lower back. I have begun to do them more like a flex and hold exercise. Its more of a pull than a push/stretch. This way it works more of the lats.

Why Every Day?
Every day would not make any sense if you did it by the modern maxim: No Pain, No Gain. But, the Atlas mantra is: Don't strain, just train. Therefore, exercise every day makes good sense. Atlas also advises exercising the whole body, every day. There is good reason for this. It burns lots of calorie...

Re: Side Bends
I try to do 100 of everything (may not be the best policy). As a result, I think I do these exercises too fast. I have started changing them into a simple flex at different poses of the back and then doing half the circles and the other half (fifty) of twists. Its a major deviation from the Perpetua...

Re: Stretching
I know this has little to do with stretching, but I discovered it while stretching. So (pardon my bad pun) even if its a stretch, here goes: I have almost been doing dynamic tension for a year. One of the leg exercises by Atlas is to rise up from sitting "indian style" without the use of h...

Re: Walking
Its interesting that you say that because I have been doing the Perpetual Lesson (PL) in cirucuits, too. I do 25 sit ups, leg lifts, dips, squats -- then start over. I try not to rest too much in between. This makes it a cardio - stretch - and strength training workout. Its the perfect thing. I do t...

Re: Stretching
I have seen so many people struggling with back and neck problems -- even in their forties and fifties! Extremely few weightlifting programs deal with the spine and neck. The core of the body is neglected. Furthermore, poor form in lifting often creates problems. And, of course, the sedentary liftes...

Re: Every Day?
I usually take Sunday's off, but I find that it is better for me if I work out every day except Sunday. First, I need to be in the daily habit of exercise in order to stick to it. Unless I exercise every day I just forget to exercise. Second, DT is not like lifting weights because it does not injure...
