Re: Listen To Your Body

Yes, we all need rest and reward. If we labor at something and obtain no reward of any kind, we feel burned out.

Re: Quotes

Charles Atlas had a lot of great quotes, but the one that made the greatest impression upon me, and changed my attitude completely about exercise is "train don't strain". This one great quote really turned me around.

Perpetual Lesson

Out of all the fitness books that I have read, the greatest all around single lesson or single chapter if you will, is the Perpetual Lesson. It is complete in itself and tops off the DT course quite well. The DT course is not just a course, what makes it so valuable is that it is a recipe for good c...

Listen To Your Body

We all should follow the DT program as outlined as nearly as possible. However, there are times when you are really exhausted from the strains of daily living, and working out morning and evening may be a real strain sometimes. What I do is "listen" to my body. When you need a rest, take o...

Re: DIPPING EXERCISE

Very ingenious circuit setup, Glen! I have been trying to pump out circuits doing 25 reps, for 8 circuits. This has been tiring me out. I tried your advice this morning, repeated the sequence as you outlined, and before I knew it, I had knocked out 200 reps of pushups, situps, and deep knee bends! T...

Re: Booklet

Ten Steps To A Better Body is a real bargain for the price, and should be in everyone's fitness collection.

Re: DIPPING EXERCISE

Thanks for your reply and input, Ian. I am doing as you suggested, doing my exercises circuit style. It is much easier overall this way.

Re: Quotes

A quote that used to make me almost kill myself in exercising was "no pain, no gain". Very poor advice! Atlas was so right with his great quote, "train don't strain". So many people, myself included have burned themselves out trying to adhere to the "no pain, no gain" p...

Re: Quotes

Right on, Ian! Train don't strain was a very hard adage for me to implement in my life, but I finally got the message. Now I use this as my mantra in life in all that I do, and I am enjoying life like never before. I use this adage along with one that my young nephew taught me, "easy does it&qu...

Re: DIPPING EXERCISE

One day I did dips all through the day and did a total of 512 reps, but I was exhausted for two days thereafter. If I do too many dips, then I don't have energy left for situps, deep knee bends, etc., so I hold it down to a total of 100 reps of each exercise. This way I keep my workouts balanced. An...
