New Years
New Years is coming around soon. It will be time to take stock, make resolutions, etc.. I am wondering what you want to add or emphasize with regards to Dynamic Tension (DT) next year. For me it will be: 1) Do better with my nutritiion (Lesson 2), and 2) To not worry. I think Lesson 7, p. 3 is one o...

Re: Duration
Re-read the Atlas course. Lesson 6, p. 3, first full paragraph. Atlas says we must make up our minds that each day we will spend a half hour in the morning and another at night exercising. Read this page carefully and you will see that you are not putting in too much time on DT.

Re: Walking
I'm glad you brought up walking because I have been reviewing the entire course and learned that I have not been doing the Atlas walk properly. Atlas advises that you not only stretch, but tense, the muscles at intervals during the walk. I have been doing this and discovered that it strengthens the ...

Re: Stretching
I have recently discovered something about the Atlas situp and the leg raises. Both of these can be excellent stretching exercises for the back of the leg. I have tried to concentrate on my form better on these exercises so as to get more stretching done while doing these exercises and have benifite...

Re: Christmas
Now that I have given this more thought, I think I might leave a hint to Santa that I would like an Atlas T-shirt and cap for Christmas myself. I think I have been pretty good this year!

Re: Trophy Winner 1936
You know, Bridge, you are absolutely RIGHT. The winner of the 1936 Atlas Trophy was a Mr. Goldstein. In defense of Rocky, however, let me point out that there was, at least according to the Columbia College website, an alum of their college who won an Atlas trophy in 1936. You can see this at colleg...

Question about Lesson One Exercize 4
In the text of Lesson One Exercise 4 is says to bring the hands above the head. In going over this material again, I noticed that the note on the picture says to bring the hands "up over and back of the head." What do most of you do here? I have tried it the way the picture says and I thin...

Deep Breathing
One exercise that I hardly ever see people discussing around here is the deep breathing exercises recommended in Lesson One. I try to get some of that in when I do my walking. When I was younger and learning to be a trumpet player, I learned those same breathing exercises. As the years went by I neg...

Re: Walking
One thing that several of us have commented on about walking is that it is very important to walk at least three miles, as Atlas recommended. Two miles is just warm-up. It is the third mile that gets aerobic and begins building muscle and breaking down fat. Two miles: introduction. Three miles: Atla...

Christmas
Christmas is coming up pretty soon. I think that we Atlas Men need to think about our legacy and how we can spread that legacy to coming generations. One of the ways we can do that is by giving someone the Atlas Course for Christmas. One year I bought this course for my son, and though he is not an ...
