Embarking on the course again

Post by hogan8174 »

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here. I originally did the dynamic tension course in its entirety the summer of 2002 when I was in college. I really enjoyed it and noticed the results it gave me. Fast forward 23 years, I feel like it’s time to go through it again! I’ve always remained active and try to stay in shape the best I can. I’ve recently begun infusion treatments for a medical condition but as long as I am feeling good I’d like to challenge myself with the course. If anyone wants to join me in this fitness journey please do so! Hopefully there are a few active members around!

It is always the right time to start exercising again. If you are healthy and your doctor allows you to, exercise is beneficial for your health and state of mind. Chart your progress and remember to make exercise exciting for yourself. Listen to some music, listen to a podcast or audio book while you exercise. Go forth and help your body to be strong.

I originally bought the Dynamic-Tension® back in 1972 when I was a 7 stone weakling. 1999-2000 I developed a cyst in me right lung and a specialist suggested I have the lung removed. I didn't but decided I'd try acupuncture instead and at this time got the 2000 version and read . . .
PURE AIR DEEP BREATHING. The very first essential thing to do in securing radiant
HEALTH and physical STRENGTH is the DEEP BREATHING OF PURE OUTSIDE AIR.
This really inspired me and did me best, I would stop in a park and do me Dynamic-Tension® exercises. I regained full lung function and after 6 months went back to the specialist who sez "lucky you didn't go with the surgery".

Over the years I've come across students "starting over", which is to say, continuing after a break. I'm one of those. I'm 85 and began the course in May of 1968. I did it faithfully 2x per day and gained little in the way of weight and muscle (I'm a textbook Ectomorph). But I felt great and stronger and more fit, and I learned a lot about fitness. I've usually done some of the exercises though mostly in an irregular way. It's tougher when I'm older. Just don't have the energy or the ability to bounce back, to recover, so exercises are best done, for me at least, a couple times a week. I also do better exercising at various times throughout the day. If you feel "stale" with the regular, full program, you might try breaking things up and spacing out the lessons. I've always remained active, and just returned from a 40 min walk. Today is March 1st so a new month, a new effort. Good luck to all. Tell us how you're doing. Maybe we can help and encourage one another. Jim
