By organic I understand foodstuff grown or raised without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides or hormones. That being said, yes, I believe CA encourages the ingestion of organic food. Mr. Atlas asked his pupils to eat in a natural, healthy way. I truly believe organic food goes hand in hand with that advice ;) . It´s a shame that in my country these conciousness about food is not widespread and finding organic food here is nearly to impossible.

I can't say that he inspires me to eat organically grown foods. The price of them is out of my financial abilities. Unless I grow my own organic foods, I have to settle for the cheaper conventionally grown items if i wish to eat.

I eat all organic. It's not even that much more expensive if you appreciate it and eat less. I can't stand genetically modified food like tomatoes. Disgusting.

Fortunately most tomatoes aren't gmo'd. Organically grown food hasn't shown to be more nutritious than conventionally grown foods. However, they do have far less accumulations of nitrates and nitrites than do conventionally grown foods, as well as less pesticide residues. This is important because these chemicals form nitrosamines which are known carcinogens. Organically grown produce isn't totally free of pesticide residues, as pesticides, and other chemicals, tend to be carried with the wind and rain and settle far away from where they were applied - including the fields of organic farmers and gardeners. Do organically grown foods taste better than conventionally grown foods? The answer to that question is probably a matter of opinion. Taste and nutrient levels is more a result of plant variety than whether or not it was grown organically. IMO organic does taste better. But it's just an opinion. Some people think beer and/or wine taste great, while others think they taste nasty. It's just an opinion. Because of it's little use of chemicals, crop rotations, and other sound conservation practices, organic farming is better for the environment than is conventional farming. Also it is more sustainable, and holds better promise of prolonging the existence of small family farms than does conventional farming. Much can be said in favor of organics, but it's not without its problems. My source of information are the folks at the Rodale Institute in Emmaus, Pa.- not far from Charles Atlas Lmtd.'s headquarters. The folks at Charles Atlas Lmtd. ought to take a tour of the Institute's experiment farm. I think they would enjoy that, and learn some things too. My own experiments have shown that organically grown open-pollinated seeds have better germination rates and longer viability than do conventionally grown seeds. Also I have noticed that organically grown produce has a longer shelf life than does the other stuff. I grow my own organically grown produce. The higher price of it at the stores make it worth my while to do so. The meat, eggs, grains, and milk are a different story. I don't have the facilities to produce them. I wish I did.
