what is the difference between isometrics and dynamic tension? does one increase strength better than the other or are they both equal?

Dynamic tension is often called isometrics but it really isn't.

Isometrics involve tension but no movement whatsoever. Like pulling up against a chair that you're sitting on.
There are some isometric exercises in the Dynamic Tension course but they do not make up the majority of exercises in that course.

Most of the exercises Charles Atlas prescribed in Dynamic Tension involve movement of some kind. For example: Left hand forces right hand up, then right hand forces left hand down, resisting all the while.

Dynamic Tension System is the name of the Charles Atlas course and isn't about one type of exercise method, the course has a variety of exercise styles.
