My wife is a regular hiker and does good size trails every weekend and now some evening hikes. She joined a local Hiking Trail Association and they organize local area hike and some a drive to get to. They have groups that go at a fast pace and others will go moderate, some are for beginners. last summer she did the 500 mile Camino in Spain.
There's likely similar groups in your area.

Re: Trail Walking
I was thinking of nordic walking...started a topic on it. I use my eliptical (mini one) cause asthma sometimes keeps me in if pollen or allergies are high but with nordic walking I can use the beach or a paved park. My wife does trails and loves it.
